Handling, Neutralisation and Storage of Pyrotechnics

£55.00

Supplementary Restraint Systems refers to passive safety features on a vehicle designed to alleviate the consequences of an vehicle accident. Passive safety features are those that don’t prevent an accident but minimise the consequences or outcome of an accident in order to protect both the vehicle occupants and other road users. Most of these devices rely on pyrotechnic devices to operate, at very high speed and with explosive force. If these devices are not handled properly, they can cause serious injury and therefore it is critical that a modern day depollution technician, knows how to manage these components safely.

Guidance from DEFRA for Authorised Testing Facilities requires that operators removing or deploying Airbags, seatbelt pretensioners and other pyrotechnic devices should be properly trained in order to reduce the risk of injury.

This course provides training in the areas recommended by DEFRA. Delegates are taught everything they need to know about Supplementary Restraint Systems (SRS), how to identify, safely handle and neutralise them.
